Marmaris Cleopatra Tour starts with departure from hotels in Marmaris and Icmeler. Within 30 minutes, the bus will take you to the pier in the village of Camli, where you will board a two-deck ship for the further journey to Cleopatra Island. At the beginning of the cruise, the guides will provide information about the excursion program and introduce you to the ship, which has a bar (non-alcoholic drinks included in the excursion price, alcoholic drinks available for an additional fee), a kitchen, freshwater showers, toilets, and changing cabins. The lower deck of the ship has tables where you can sit in the shade and enjoy the journey, while the upper deck has sunbeds. The ship can accommodate up to 120 people comfortably across two decks.
This famous island is located in the Gulf of Gokova and is known as Sedir on maps. It derived its name from the ancient settlement of Cedrai, which served as a port and transshipment center during the Roman Empire and was famous for its cedar forests. The ruins of this ancient settlement have been well preserved on the island to this day. You will have the opportunity to explore the ancient theater, the Temple of Apollo, the fortress walls, and a later period church.
Legend has it that the island was gifted to Cleopatra during her honeymoon in 33 BC when she spent several days there with her beloved, the legendary Roman general Mark Antony. Before making this gift, the triumvir ordered the transportation of several galley loads of white sand from Egypt, which the beach is still famous for today.
After a short boat trip, you will arrive at the Cleopatra Island pier. Our guides will briefly introduce you to the places worth visiting, provide you with purchased entrance tickets (not included in the excursion price and paid upon arrival to the island guides), and give you 2 hours of free time to spend as you wish. Those who wish can embark on a journey to explore the island’s attractions, while those who prefer beach relaxation can head straight to the legendary beach, located just 100 meters from the pier.
At the designated time indicated by the guide, you will need to return to the ship, where a delicious lunch will be waiting for you, followed by further exploration of equally beautiful swimming spots.
To add variety to the excursion, we have included visits to the most beautiful locations in the Gulf of Gokova. On the return journey, you will make three 30-minute swimming stops at the beautiful and picturesque beaches of Incekum, Blue Lagoon, and Rabbit Island. After enjoying the beauty of these places and having a satisfying swim, you will continue the journey back to the starting point of the excursion at the pier in the village of Camli.
Buses will be waiting at the pier to transport you back to Marmaris, and then to your hotels within approximately 30 minutes. The excursion is scheduled to end around 17:00, depending on the location of your hotel.
